Hello,
I’m Dr. Gia

I’m a psychologist, author, consultant, integrative medicine health coach, lecturer, and longtime meditation practitioner.

We are all interconnected

Growing up, my brother and I were taught by our parents to love deeply, work hard, and take responsibility for whatever needs to be done. They instilled in us the notion that each of us are part of a greater whole. With this outlook, I began a career in journalism.

I don’t take my health for granted

From age two until twelve, I lived with a medical condition that kept me from feeling fully carefree. The treatments also made me see myself as a little different from my friends.

But the experience taught me to deeply honor mental and physical health, and ingrained in me a sincere sense of empathy for others, which I bring to my personal and professional relationships.

From journalist
to psychologist

I loved my job as a field producer for CNN. But I returned to school to study psychology. At the Renfrew Center, Monte Nido, and the UCLA Counseling Center I provided clinical services. Additionally at UCLA, I served as director of the Eating Disorders Program, coauthored its first clinical care manual, worked as a clinical supervisor, and taught an intuitive eating body-image class. I also joined the Breaking the Chains Foundation as a clinical board member and started a private practice.

Working with
brilliant leaders

Other highlights of my career include working with the UCLA Department of Athletics to support the well-being of athletes, training as an integrative medicine health coach with Duke Integrative Medicine, and launching the Nourish for Life outpatient program at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

The universe is calling you to be a little bit braver.

Elaine Welteroth

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.

Audre Lorde

True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are. It requires you to BE who you are.

Brene Brown

Keep looking up. That’s the secret of life.

Snoopy

I believe you can speak things into existence.

Jay Z

All the girls who got “talks too much” on their report cards grew up to be powerful.

Sarah Jenks

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves “who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually who are you not to be?...Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

Maryanne Williamson

Nobody has it all together. I don’t have to be perfect.

Dr. Gia

The secret to finding the deeper level in the other is finding the deeper level in yourself. Without seeing it in yourself, you cannot see it in the other.

Eckhart Tolle

If you are working on something you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pushes you.

Steve Jobs

I deserve to fulfill my dreams. I will bring my light with me wherever I go.

In a culture that values instant gratification, comfort and productivity, self-care is often an afterthought, partly because its rewards aren’t always immediate.

Briana and Peter Borten

We determine who we let into our lives. Be selective. Be cautious. Be deliberate. Be judicious. Set your bar high. Surround yourself with people who elevate your standard of living.

@harrypetsanis

Your mind is your richest resource.

Earl Nightingale

Don’t take yourself for granted. Nourish and reflect on all parts of yourself that need healing and self-love. Be patient and kind during the process.

@Calebskids

The truest, most beautiful life never promises to be an easy one. We need to let go of the lie that it's supposed to be.

@GlennonDoyle

We grow in connection with others.

Lori Gottlieb

As a black woman, the decision to love yourself just as you are is a radical act.

Bethanee Bryant

I’m here to help

My regular meditation practice, long walks in nature, and spending time with friends and family—along with my work as a psychologist—keep me grounded, grateful, and thriving. I am honored to be able to help shine a light on the path that leads people to where they want to be. I’m honored to partner with my clients on their journey toward healing and intentional living.
