Growing up, my brother and I were taught by our parents to love deeply, work hard, and take responsibility for whatever needs to be done. They instilled in us the notion that each of us are part of a greater whole. With this outlook, I began a career in journalism.
From age two until twelve, I lived with a medical condition that kept me from feeling fully carefree. The treatments also made me see myself as a little different from my friends.
But the experience taught me to deeply honor mental and physical health, and ingrained in me a sincere sense of empathy for others, which I bring to my personal and professional relationships.
I loved my job as a field producer for CNN. But I returned to school to study psychology. At the Renfrew Center, Monte Nido, and the UCLA Counseling Center I provided clinical services. Additionally at UCLA, I served as director of the Eating Disorders Program, coauthored its first clinical care manual, worked as a clinical supervisor, and taught an intuitive eating body-image class. I also joined the Breaking the Chains Foundation as a clinical board member and started a private practice.
Other highlights of my career include working with the UCLA Department of Athletics to support the well-being of athletes, training as an integrative medicine health coach with Duke Integrative Medicine, and launching the Nourish for Life outpatient program at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
My regular meditation practice, long walks in nature, and spending time with friends and family—along with my work as a psychologist—keep me grounded, grateful, and thriving. I am honored to be able to help shine a light on the path that leads people to where they want to be. I’m honored to partner with my clients on their journey toward healing and intentional living.
The foundation’s goal is to fight back against the prevalence of eating disorders, disordered eating, and negative body image; strengthen the links of prevention and recovery; and end the stigma of those affected by these issues.
